Back in the mid-'70's, the librarian was a something progressive oddity, much like this album from the Rolling Stones. At 14, I only had a handful of Rolling Stones albums, but aside from "Beggars Banquet", "Let it Bleed," and "Hot Rocks", I hadn't heard much of the earlier Stones until I listened to this great (yet, unusual) album over and /5().
  3. Zulule says:
"I'd Much Rather Be With the Boys" is a unique item in the Rolling Stones ' catalog in that it bears not the usual Mick Jagger - Keith Richards songwriting credit, but the collaborative byline of Richards and early Rolling Stones manager/producer Andrew Loog Oldham.

The mid-'60s demos are unremarkable (with the exception of the Richards/Oldham composition 'I'd Much Rather Be With the Boys', a nifty little song even if it wasn't right for the Stones), but I'm giving "Metamorphosis" three and a half stars for the sweeping orchestral version of 'Out of Time' (far superior to the version on "Aftermath", in my humble opinion), Bill Wyman's mock .
  6. Douran says:
Metamorphosis pulls a number of tracks from this latter grouping, and while "Each and Every Day of the Year" (covered by Bobby Jameson), "I'd Much Rather Be With the Boys" (the Toggery Five), "Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind" (Vashti), "Sleepy City" (the Mighty Avengers), and "We're Wasting Time" (Jimmy Tarbuck) may not be Stones performances per se, they are .

Jun 06,  · Metamorphosis is both interesting and embarrassing, a curio and an outrage. Its 14 tracks consist of jams, outtakes, alternate takes and primitive versions of songs the Rolling Stones later revised.
  8. Kigarg says:
Original Metamorphosis LP was just another subject of hostility between ex-manager Allen Klein and the band back then. A rare/odds collection with a messy story, pressing and sound.
